Is it possible to modify the defaul test following the splash screen on the 'update' function.

 The default screen says:

Welcome to the WebDir Update Wizard. The Update Wizard allows you to update your directory information. Use this wizard to update your name, phone number, address, etc.

Click Next to get started.

But we need to customize this with a different message.

All strings are customizable.  There is a how-to article in the help that covers how to change the text.  The identifier you are interested in is:
