Please help with a few issues I have.

    Dear All,

I wonder if I can pick you brains on a few issues.

No. (1) One of my users is getting this error message once a day. We are using 4.01250. Any Idea's?

    | Error: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at Imanami.WebDir.Engine.Find(String criteria, IdalObjectClass idalObjectClass, String container, String category) at Imanami.WebDir.WebClient.TemplateSearchControlBase.ProcessSearch()

    No. (2)

Our users get this error message when trying to export a list of groups using IE7.

    "Could not open 'Https://********.com/webdir4/excel.apsx?SearchResultsCategory=searchresults.groups'

    No. (3)

The user wishes to list all users in his domain. Is there any wildcard that can be used instead of having to use A then B and so on.

e.g in DOS/Windows to find a file with joker in it I would type *joker*.doc in the search bar.

    Thank you in advance.

    Simon.

    Hi Simon,

    1. What were they doing when they receive this error message?  I know they were searching, but I am wondering which page they were on and what they searched for.  Do they get the message randomly or when they perform a specific search?

    2. Have you changed the default search template?  It would be helpful to have an HTML list of the groups before the user clicks Excel.  My guess is the result set is too big or the there are invalid Excel tags in the results.

    3. Two ways to do this:

    1. Set Search.UseContainsFilter=1 and all searches will a contains search (*joker*) by default.
    2. Set Toolbar.ShowPhoneList=1 to display the PhoneBook menu item which is all users.

Re: Please help with a few issues I have.

    Hello Robert,

    Thanks for the post.

    1) I have asked the user what he was doing.

    2) We have not changed the search template I believe the install is completely standard. It is strange that Firefox works like a dream and IE 6 and 7 have the issue. The results would be between 50 - 100 which I presume is more than manageble.

    3) I am very new to WEBDIR4 would you mind being a little more explicit with your direction.

    Thanks again,

    Simon.

    2. Hummmm, can you reproduce this in IE without the https://, just using http://.  Is this easily reproduced, is does it always happen if you use IE and execute the exact same search?

    3. Sorry, Setting are configurable using the WebDir System Manager.  Launch the System Manager, click on your virtual server, and then click the Settings tab.  Click the Add button to add a setting.  Select the setting from the drop down and enter the value.  Click File->Save when you are done and then launch WebDir in a web page and try the new setting out.
